WELCOME

I'm a full-time wife and mom of two adorable boys. When I'm not busy trying to keep up with them I enjoy photography, traveling, planning parties and a little bit of reading.

In February of 2008 I was diagnosed with an incurable terminal lung illness, though God promised me a full and complete healing. While we wait for His timing, we're taking it one day at a time, and standing in awe of how God's using all of this for His glory. The tough road we've traveled has given us a new perspective on the fragility of life. Memories are more important to us than ever before. The goal of this blog is to share some of our family life - the ups and downs, the joys and probably some of the pains as well. It's mostly meant as a personal journal of sorts, but you're welcome to share in it. We'd like to take this opportunity to say ...

WELCOME TO THE FEITNER ADVENTURE!

10 lb 2.7 oz

Five years ago today.....

He came right out ... only had to push for three contractions.  (Guess I've got these hips for a reason!)

I "lost" 40 pounds before leaving the hospital
(most of it was water retention).

Bonding... just before he was taken to the NICU because his sugars kept dropping.

18 hours after delivery, I had two seizures (from HELLP Syndrome), and was fighting to live.  Finally the next day I was coherent enough to remember a nurse bringing him down from the NICU for me to see.  When you're separated from your baby so early, it's easy to doubt you're really a mom.

Finally 3 days after giving birth I had enough strength to be pushed up to the NICU to see my son again.
What a flood of emotion!

Two days later we were both ready to be discharged
(on Super Bowl Sunday).

On the way home, we stopped by to introduce my Grandma to the wee one - her first born biological great-grandchild.

She was buried exactly one month before I was hospitalized for the emergency surrounding our second-born's birth.  I'm so glad that Alex has memories of her, "The Graham Cracker Lady."
(Because she gave him some every time she saw him.)

And ... TODAY ... he turned 5!

Happy Birthday, Darling!
We're so happy you're part of our family!
