Spiritual Gettysburg

A friend's going through a spiritual Gettysburg. Two other friends experienced a spiritual "break thru" this very morning. I was looking up scriptures to help encourage these friends, and realized that these are good scriptures for ALL of us to have easy access to. Frequently when we really need a bit of encouragement in our own spiritual Gettysburg, it can be hard to know where to turn to in the Bible for help. So, "please excuse me" while I jam these 32 scriptures down your throat too! Maybe someone out there will read one on this post, and it will help them too. I'm sure one day in the probably not too distant future, I'm gonna need them to, and I'll be able to come back to this post and be encouraged to keep on keeping on....

"... I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you...." (Isaiah 46:4)

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:30-31)

In this you may greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith - of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire - may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31)

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence whenever our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. (I John 3:19-20) - - the point of this is that even when our hearts condemn us, GOD DOESN’T! God is greater than our hearts!!!

God is love. … There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear.” (1 John 5:16b, 18a)
