WELCOME

I'm a full-time wife and mom of two adorable boys. When I'm not busy trying to keep up with them I enjoy photography, traveling, planning parties and a little bit of reading.

In February of 2008 I was diagnosed with an incurable terminal lung illness, though God promised me a full and complete healing. While we wait for His timing, we're taking it one day at a time, and standing in awe of how God's using all of this for His glory. The tough road we've traveled has given us a new perspective on the fragility of life. Memories are more important to us than ever before. The goal of this blog is to share some of our family life - the ups and downs, the joys and probably some of the pains as well. It's mostly meant as a personal journal of sorts, but you're welcome to share in it. We'd like to take this opportunity to say ...

WELCOME TO THE FEITNER ADVENTURE!

Alex Learning to Ski!

Getting help from Grandpa to put on skis for the first time. These are so cool!
His first time out was with Daddy, and Alex
was less than thrilled that skiing was so difficult.
So, the next day he was put in ski school
(with someone other than Daddy doing the teaching).
Most of the first lesson was spent falling.
The following day Alex got a private lesson,
and finally began to understand the basics. The next day he was ready to try to ski with the family.
He was still unsure of himself (and fell a lot),
but at least he wasn't leaning into the teacher anymore.

Such a patient Daddy!
Aaron was THRILLED to be able to teach his son to ski
the same way he remembers his father teaching HIM!
Alex was finally seeing improvement in himself, and was excited! Finally Alex became more comfortable with how to speed up
and slow down. He decided that he very much liked "green lights,"
and very much didn't like "yellow lights" or "red lights!"
Aaron and his dad took turns being the person Alex skied toward.
Phew! Safe in Grandpa's strong hands!
Alex was finally confident enough (with his gum to reassure him!)
to try longer stretches on his own. But as you can tell from the
screams, he wasn't totally confident yet.

He even learned how to turn!
By this point he was so sick of the camera.

But by the end of the week, he was ready for MUCH LONGER runs. He kept yelling to Aaron who was skiing backwards, because he was scared Aaron would run into something. After he got to the bottom, the group of girls (who you see at one point during the video), told him that he rocked! He smiled in agreement!

It was definitely worth all the work to be able to see Alex (who's extra timid when it comes to new things) be so confident by the end of the week! We're SO PROUD of Alex's improvement! Maybe he'll be ready for the black diamonds next year! Okay, so that's definitely just wishful thinking on Aaron's part.... Aaron has told me time and time again, that it was a dream come true for Alex to be taught how to ski by Aaron and his father TOGETHER!
