WELCOME

I'm a full-time wife and mom of two adorable boys. When I'm not busy trying to keep up with them I enjoy photography, traveling, planning parties and a little bit of reading.

In February of 2008 I was diagnosed with an incurable terminal lung illness, though God promised me a full and complete healing. While we wait for His timing, we're taking it one day at a time, and standing in awe of how God's using all of this for His glory. The tough road we've traveled has given us a new perspective on the fragility of life. Memories are more important to us than ever before. The goal of this blog is to share some of our family life - the ups and downs, the joys and probably some of the pains as well. It's mostly meant as a personal journal of sorts, but you're welcome to share in it. We'd like to take this opportunity to say ...

WELCOME TO THE FEITNER ADVENTURE!

Wishful Thinking

Once they hit a certain age, most kids want to move away from their hometown when they grow up. I was no different. Wheeling felt confining in some ways. Boarding school helped to widen my horizons, so did my mother's interest in "the rest of the world" outside of the Wheeling bubble. It seems like so many people get trapped within those hills. Pittsburgh's only an hour away, and I can't even count the number of times when I was growing up that I heard someone make the comment "You're going all the way to Pittsburgh? Why?" Well, now I'm moving there. How ironic.

Every now and then it's okay to just dream that you can actually reach the stars, right? Several months ago Aaron and I were having fun one evening "dreaming" about one of the many lifestyles we'll never have the money to live. Well, at least never be able to live while actually paying important bills like the mortgage - or even the electric bill for that matter!

Well, we decided to check out real estate in Wheeling. But there's absolutely no logical reason why we'd look at a house we could actually afford, right? Now, for those of you not blessed with having grown up in the Upper Ohio Valley, you need to understand that new construction in Wheeling generally just doesn't exist. So, if someone's got money, they generally either (1) move away, or (2) buy an old, gorgeous home and redo it (which usually involves lots of renovations and nice wallpaper).

That evening I found it - the house of my dreams (well, at least if it was located in Wheeling). This morning I was taking a "work break" and decided to check if it's sold yet. To my personal delight ('cause I could fantasize all over again), and dismay for the poor owner, it's still listed. So - I'm sharing this beauty with all of you.

If we could ever afford a place like this, then I think I'd be more than okay with the 2.5 hr (round-trip) commute each day that Aaron would have to have. But, we can't afford even 1/5 of this house. If you'd like to see more (and drool along with me), check it out HERE. Of course there are some things I'd change, but .... sigh - I'm in love. I remember being mesmerized by it as a child (as we drove past), and our imaginary relationship has recently gone to a whole new level!

It's beautiful, but I can see why it hasn't sold. It's in need of some simple redecorating. Gorgeous molding throughout and the grounds are fantastic.
